ACADEMIC DETAILING
An unbiased, research-driven approach to pharmaceutical detailing.
An unbiased, research-driven approach to pharmaceutical detailing.
Alosa Health introduced the idea of Academic Detailing back in 2004 and today, it is changing how the healthcare industry gains access to up-to-date, evidence-based pharmaceutical information.
Academic Detailing consists of rigorous evidence review. Alosa staff and Harvard Medical School faculty work together to evaluate and synthesize the latest published articles to arrive at informed treatment recommendations. Academic Detailers, made up of pharmacists, nurses and doctors, then go out in the field to interact with clinicians.
Step 1. Evaluate and synthesize the evidence
The Alosa team reviews hundreds of current articles, whitepapers and abstracts from notable medical universities and journals, critically evaluating each one.
Step 2. Formulate our recommendations
We then create practice-relevant documents that succinctly summarize the most clinically relevant points and offer practical recommendations.
Step 3. Meet with clinicians
We market the evidence, not the product. To get the word out, Alosa Health’s team of “Academic Detailers” call on clinicians in their own offices.
Academic Detailing helps reduce problem prescribing by 14%. A landmark paper in the New England Journal of Medicine noted that academic detailing helped reduce prescribing of harmful drug combinations.
LEARN MOREThe goal of any Academic Detailing engagement is to help healthcare organizations reduce overall costs by decreasing inappropriate or unnecessary prescribing and empowering physicians to make more informed, evidence-based medical decisions.
Our clinical educators visit with health care professionals in person to discuss therapeutic choices and best patient care practices.
Learn MoreWe train organizations how to develop, deliver, and manage their own Academic Detailing programs.
Learn MoreWe tailor material and program development solutions that focus on achieving your operational goals.
Learn MoreSince 2005, Alosa Health-trained academic detailers have conducted almost 20,000 educational outreach visits with over 5,000 prescribers, covering 23 different clinical modules.
“This is a great review. There is always something more I can learn and it’s a great way to validate that I am doing the right thing.”
